Therapy · Osteopathy

Osteopathy – manual, precise, holistic.

With the hands, we assess the interplay of bones, muscles, fascia and internal organs – and gently release what has fallen out of balance in the body.

"Osteopathy is diagnosis through touch – and therapy from understanding."

What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is an independent form of manual medicine. It assumes that the body works as a whole: muscles, bones, fascia, internal organs and the nervous system are in constant exchange. When a movement restriction develops in one place – through injury, strain, surgery or chronic stress – it can show up as a symptom in an entirely different location.

In treatment, we palpate these connections specifically. With precise, often very gentle manual techniques, restrictions are released so the body can regulate itself again. We work on three complementary levels:

  • Structural – the musculoskeletal system: spine, joints, muscles, fascia.
  • Visceral – internal organs and their attachments, abdomen, pelvis.
  • Craniosacral – skull, sacrum and the cerebrospinal fluid system between them.

Indications

What is osteopathy used for?

Osteopathy is not a miracle cure, but it is particularly effective where complaints cannot be clearly attributed to a single cause or where the interplay of different structures matters.

  • Acute and chronic back and neck pain.
  • Headaches, migraine, tension and stress consequences.
  • Complaints after surgery, accidents or during the healing process.
  • Functional digestive complaints, irritable bowel, abdominal pain of unclear origin.
  • Musculoskeletal complaints after sport, one-sided strain or desk work.
  • Supportive during pregnancy and after birth.
  • Sleep disorders with a physical component.
Osteopathy does not replace conventional medical assessment. We work in addition – and refer if a different path makes more sense.

How does a treatment work?

01

Initial consultation and examination

– about 60 minutes. We take time for your story: current complaints, pre-existing conditions, life situation. A careful manual examination follows.

02

Treatment plan

– we openly discuss what we found, what makes osteopathic sense – and what does not. You know what you are agreeing to before we treat.

03

Treatment

– manual techniques across the three levels, calm and precise. You are in comfortable clothing; each step is announced.

04

Accompaniment and follow-up sessions

– usually 2 to 6 appointments at intervals of 1 to 3 weeks. We decide together whether, when and how to continue.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about osteopathy.

Is osteopathy covered by health insurance?+
Usually via supplementary insurance (complementary medicine), as our therapists are EMR or ASCA registered. Please check individually with your health insurer which therapists are recognized and what share is covered.
Do I need a referral?+
No. You can book directly. In some cases we ask for current findings (e.g. MRI, X-ray) to complete the picture.
How many appointments are needed?+
It depends on the assessment. Acute topics often need 2–4 sessions; chronic patterns require patience – we decide together and evaluate the progress transparently.
Does the treatment hurt?+
In most cases no. Some techniques can be briefly uncomfortable but are never painful. You set the pace at any time.
Can I use osteopathy alongside conventional medicine?+
Absolutely – that is our understanding. We see our work as complementary. If your GP or specialist is involved, we coordinate.
What should I bring to the first session?+
Current findings (if available), a list of medications and comfortable clothing. Insurance card for billing.
